Hey Y’all!! I feel so Texan every time I type that! I am absolutely crazy over my new bedroom. I call it new bedroom because that is what it feels like! I knew I always wanted a fireplace in my master bedroom ever since our first home we just never had the motivation to do it. It took Instagram and a sponsored electric fireplace collaboration to finally get that idea of a diy fireplace rolling in real life.
My bedroom before was extremely French country.. don’t get me wrong it was still beautiful but it was quickly put together to have it presentable for Instagram. Being a home decor influencer on IG adds some extra pressure on how my home needs to look. Having to stay consistent with my postings I was running out of rooms to post, we decided lets add moulding and paint to my bedroom. We had not touched my bedroom since we had moved in. The walls hadn’t even been painted! The boys rooms got refreshes and almost every other room but my bedroom was put last.
Marcus and I quickly decided we needed to start working in the room and make it somewhat presentable. I new we needed to add wall moulding. Wall moulding is such a quick DIY and can easily transform any space. Let me show you some before and afters of the wall. These aren’t the best photos but you should be able to see the difference.
Wall moulding and paint has made such a HUGE difference. Now looking back at these photos I can’t believe how far my bedroom has come. My room was officially Instagram presentable once I got the moulding up, and a few other things added, such as my rug, some bedding from Homegoods, Amazon sconces. Painting the walls made such a huge difference. They were originally this beige/pink color and it would drive me absolutely crazy. We painted it my all time favorite white, Simply White by Benjamin Moore and now it is perfect! You will see this color in my house a lot. This is my go too white!
My bedroom stayed looking like this for a few months! I love it but then I got the fireplace collaboration and I knew I wanted something a bit more modern and well that didn’t fit into my current bedroom style. Being on a short time frame I decided to do a quick change with rugs, lighting, window treatments and now I definitely have a bit more of a modern French country bedroom. Here it is! I can’t believe we pulled this off in about 3 weeks! It turned out beautiful!! I couldn’t be happier with this fireplace in my bedroom, my entire bedroom! I can’t wait to decorate in here during the holidays!! I am soooo excited!!
I decided to keep everything neutral in here and add colors with accents. My rug brings in some nice light green shades, as well as one of my comforters I had bought from Target. I linked a similar rug, the one in my bedroom is one of a kind..which is pretty amazing! My fireplace is a bit more on the modern side but the cedar board I added to the top definitely warmed it up. It is a really light piece of red cedar, we sanded and left natural and it is just perfect for the fireplace!
The artwork on my mantle is absolutely GORGEOUS. I received it from Cove Prints. They have the most beautiful artwork . Right after I got the art work sitting on the mantle I knew it was the right piece of art. That first day I couldn’t stop staring at my fireplace. I am so happy with it. I will have a tutorial soon on how we did our fireplace so stay tuned for that! Overall, I absolutely love my bedroom! I loved it before but love it even more now!
