This summer we decided to tackle our backyard and add a space where the entire family would enjoy hanging out. In true Alexis and Marcus fashion we decided to tackle the project ourselves.I can’t wait to show you how beautiful this backyard makeover turned out!
Summer of 2023 was probably the hottest summer we have had in Houston, Texas and Marcus and I had this brilliant idea of tackling a backyard project. We knew we had to start with a base and I wanted flagstone. I had this vision of flagstone and little flowers growing in between the flagstone.. the ultimate backyard garden oasis.
My vision didn’t entirely happen the first time around but we were so extremely happy with what we had so far. We knew we would eventually have a covered patio we just decided to wait till summer finished.
Can you guess what I am going to say next.. Summer finally ended and guess who I partnered with.. Backyard Discovery!
Backyard Discovery has always been a favorite so it was a no brainer for me when I was on my gazebo search that I would reach out to see if they wanted to partner with me. My boy’s swing set ,which we purchased from Backyard Discovery, is our favorite and we absolutely love it and quality.
I had two weeks to get our new Norwood 14×12 Gazebo assembled.. and in November, weather is very unpredictable in Houston and so are germs. The entire family caught the flu and there was also several days of cold rain…just my luck! Took us a few days to work through feeling achy and the rain but once we got the frame of the gazebo up we were then able to visualize how beautiful it was going to be and this really helped us with getting motivated to finish it!
This probably could have been a weekend project but with us being sick and weather not cooperating took us a little longer… but we got it done within the two week time period and we are so happy with how beautiful it turned out.
It completely transformed the space and I can’t wait to have movie nights out here with the boys. This holiday season is going to have a lot of magical backyard moments that I will be sure to share!
