LET’S DECORATE OUR HOME FOR SPRING
So right after Christmas I will put away all of my Christmas decor and transition the house from Christmas decor to “winter” decor basically leave up anything winterish that doesn’t scream Christmas. It is usually takes that first warm day where the sunshine is just shining, not a cloud in the sky, its a warm in the high 70’s or low 80’s, and here in Houston that day happens anytime late January or early February. When that day arrives its spring time for our house hold! With a few spring home decor tips listed below you can easily transform your home and get spring ready in no time!
Decluttering/organization: Of course we all probably know what the first step is, decluttering and organization!! I know some of us go all out in this category with storing certain things in specific places with labels etc.. I need to work on this category and will do a future post on organization specifically, but I am pretty good with decluttering. I am sure many of us feel like our house is bare once we pack up our winter stuff I like to think of my home being a blank canvas.
Even though we all have spring home decor from the spring before there is still some of us that likes to throw in a few new items or maybe mix in what might be trending this new year..every year its always something new with home trends and this year we have, wall paper, earthy elements, organic accents, greige paint color is making a come back, wicker, ticking stripe, these are just to name a few. What really makes me feel like I have made a major transformation in my house for spring is spring floral!
Spring Floral!!! So much fun to shop for but I always tend to hit up Hobby Lobby to late and all the spring floral has been bought!! I am normally not a pink, peonies kinda gal, but this year I decided to add a bit of pink to my house and of course I had some inspiration in doing so. I don’t have tons to spend on spring artificial floral which is why I shop at Hobby Lobby but since the floral section was picked over I went ahead and I tried Amazon. Who would have thought Amazon would have floral as beautiful and realistic as these peonies!! My Amazon peonies look amazing and bring life, color and spring into my kitchen and the price couldn’t get any better than 2 packs of peonies for 17$. In my large opening vase I went ahead and purchased 2 so a total of 4 bouquets which fit perfect!! Be brave, and if your more of a neutral tone for decor kinda gal, which is me, you can bring spring into your home by simply adding subtle pops of colors through your spring floral.
Spring Textiles (pillows, drapes, throws, and rugs): Now I LOVE LOVE adding spring pillows to my house, I love choosing neutral colors for my throw pillow covers so I am able to use all year round and maybe layer my chairs and sofas with a few holiday pillows for each holiday. A sofa, love seat, sectional, or even just a chair whatever you have in your home, pillows will add fullness, warmth, an inviting, comfortable feeling to your space. You can have the most modern contemporary of spaces or the most farmhouse and French country space, whichever you have pillows will make your space feel complete! You can find an entire list here of Spring pillow ideas! For spring make sure you lighten up all pillows, throw blankets, and drapes in your house.. neutral earthy tone is best for 2022.
Spring Accents: Aside from all the spring floral and pillows, many of us like to bring in the accent decor. Whether that be wicker, seagrass baskets which is trending this year, vases, frames, books, lighten up shelves, bookcases, entryway tables with light, earthy tone, accents, you can never go wrong with adding in a few white vases. Layering shelves or bookcases with white vases, greenery, light color books.. taking out the dark and adding the light.
It is simple to get your home spring ready you don’t need to go all out to get it done. Just adding some spring floral, neutral textiles, and lighter accents should cover the base ground for adding Spring to the home! Shop around in your house, shuffle around furniture, move decor from room to room, this is also an easy option to make your feel new and different and will help with the Spring mood feeling we got going on!!
HAPPY SPRING DECORATING!
